Blake Goldring – Founder and Chairman of Many Ways to Serve

While all of us have the capacity to do good work and help our neighbors and communities we live in, there are a few who do more. Blake Goldring is one of those individuals – as an entrepreneur, leader in the business community and philanthropist, he finds ways to reach those in need. Blake Goldring AGF is one great mind to work with. Let us look at his career path and how he was instrumental enough to get AGF a name worldwide.

Career Path

One of five children, he attended St. Andrew’s Junior High and went on to complete his education at the University of Toronto. He graduated with a degree in Economics and earned an MBA from INSEAD. His work experience is just as impressive – international banker at the Bank of Montreal and then corporate banking. The next stop was AGF as a portfolio and investment analyst. In 1991, he was appointed the Sales and Marketing Head of AGF.

That he is dynamic is evident in the fact that Goldring was appointed the CEO of AGF in 2000.  Under his able leadership, AGF acquired other wealth management companies and also developed investment platforms. These platforms played a key role in in expanding the clientele base and investment portfolio beyond investing in mutual funds. The focus of these platforms includes private, retail, institutional and alternative investment management. Not only that, AGF’s portfolio includes innovative investments in several areas as well as investment solutions which are environmentally sustainable.

Blake’s Community Service efforts and initiatives

Blake Goldring AGF is well known as a history buff and got actively involved in 1996 with the Royal Regiment of Canada. He got several honorary appointments for his service and he is currently serving as an Honorary Colonel, Canadian Army.

Goldring is best known for his establishment of the organization “Many Ways to Serve” which supports the Armed Forces of Canada. The motivating factor is to foster and build strong connections between Canadian business and military leaders. Some of the programs include helping families of soldiers who laid their lives down for their country with scholarships and any other assistance required. The program also helps veterans transition easily from military to civilian life and find good jobs through the Military Employment Transition Program (MET).

Goldring also serves in several capacities on the Boards of institutions such as the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center, Toronto, the Toronto Symphony and the C.D. Howe Institute.  He is the recipient of several awards for his dedication and community involvement. He is the recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, B’nai B’rith honoree for contributions to society and the Meritorious Service Medal for his work on behalf of the Military.  Goldring has also been recognized as a champion of diversity and women’s causes by Women of Influence, a well-recognized organization in North America.

Married with three children, Blake lives with his family in Toronto. Inspite of his hectic and busy life, he finds time to play tennis, golf and even goes fishing.
